Engines
What each engine supports at a glance: the capability matrix (generated from the code). Limits, versions tested and test instructions are on each engine's page.

| SQL Server | 1 | mssql.md |
| Oracle Database | 1 | oracle.md |
| SQLite | 1 | sqlite.md |
| MongoDB | 1 | mongodb.md |
| Redis / Valkey | 1 | redis.md |
| ClickHouse | 2 | clickhouse.md |
| Elasticsearch / OpenSearch | 2 | elasticsearch.md |
| DuckDB | 2 | duckdb.md |
| Neo4j | 2 | neo4j.md |
| HydraDB | 2 | hydradb.md |

HydraDB is experimental: a young engine with a narrow Cypher subset, kept small and not extended.
Not implemented: Redshift, Other PostgreSQL/MySQL-protocol engines (compatibility is not claimed unless listed above), and all Level 3 engines. The JDBC/ODBC bridge is not implemented.
Cloud and managed services: not confirmed
RizomaDB has only been tested against engines running locally, in containers or in an official emulator. It has not been tested against any real cloud account, so working support there is not confirmed:
- Amazon DynamoDB on AWS (only DynamoDB Local was tested), Google Cloud Firestore on Google Cloud (only the emulator), and MongoDB Atlas.
- Managed versions of tested engines (for example Amazon RDS/Aurora, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database, Neon, Supabase, PlanetScale), which speak the same protocol but can differ in TLS, authentication (IAM and token logins are not implemented), limits and permissions.
- Redshift, Snowflake and BigQuery are not implemented.
Test before relying on it. Before using a cloud service for real work, connect with a read-only user or a throwaway database first, check that the explorer, a query and the filter work, and only then enable writes. If something fails, please open a Test report issue with the engine, the service and the message; a confirmed result (working or not) helps everyone. See Help test RizomaDB.
